Delete your account

You can delete your Weddify account and its data yourself, from the app, in about four taps. There is no waiting period and nothing to cancel afterwards -- it happens immediately and it cannot be undone.

From the app

1. Open the Profile tab.
2. Tap Account & Security.
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm. You will be signed out straight away.

If you can't sign in

Email privacy@weddify.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to be able to sign in. We will confirm by replying to that address before anything is deleted, so that nobody can delete someone else's account by writing to us.

If you were only ever invited to someone's wedding and never created an account, there is no account to delete -- but you can still email privacy@weddify.com and ask to be removed from a host's guest list.

What is deleted straight away

• Your sign-in. Your login identity is removed first, before anything else, so the account cannot be signed into again even if something later in the process fails.
• Your profile -- name, photo, contact details, dietary needs and allergies, notification settings, saved vendors, and your registered devices.
• Weddings you host. A wedding does not outlive the account that created it. It is removed along with its guest list, tasks, seating, menu, timeline, chat and posts. This includes content other people added to that wedding, so if you share hosting with a partner, hand the wedding over before deleting your account rather than after.
• Your messages. The text of every message you sent is erased immediately. What remains in the conversation for a short while is an empty placeholder attributed to "Deleted user", so the thread other people are reading does not silently reshuffle.
• Your posts, comments, likes and poll answers, and the photos and videos you uploaded.
• Your notifications and anything we had indexed to make you findable in search.

What takes a little longer

Some things are hidden from everyone immediately, then erased from storage on a delayed sweep. Nobody can see them in the meantime; the delay exists so the deletion is done in one pass rather than as thousands of separate operations.

• Message placeholders: removed after about 30 days.
• Posts and comments: removed after about 30 days.
• Photos and videos: removed from storage after about 30 days.
• Push notification tokens: removed after about 90 days.
• A wedding you hosted: its remaining record is erased after about 90 days, having already been emptied of guests, chat, tasks and posts.

What we keep, and why

• Bookings and payments. If you booked or paid a vendor, the amounts, dates and statuses stay, because they are a financial record that we and the vendor are required to be able to account for. Your name is replaced on them.
• Your name on other people's guest lists. If you were a guest at someone else's wedding, that wedding is not yours to delete and it stays. Your account is unlinked from it and your email, phone, photo, dietary needs and allergies are removed from the host's copy -- but your name stays on their list, because it is their record of who they invited.
• Safety reports. If you reported someone, or someone reported you, that record is kept. Deleting an account should not be a way to erase a moderation history.

A few things worth knowing first

• There is no undo and no grace period. The account is gone the moment you confirm. Signing up again with the same email creates a genuinely new account with nothing in it.
• Get your data out first if you want it. Profile → Account & Security → Export my data gives you a machine-readable copy of what we hold. Photos and videos are not in that file -- save those from the wedding's gallery, which has its own save option.
• If you sign in with Google or Apple, deleting your Weddify account does not touch that account. It only removes Weddify's.

Deleting some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to delete the whole account to remove something. From the app you can delete any individual photo, video, post, comment or message you added, leave a wedding you were invited to, and clear the dietary needs and allergies on your profile. Those are removed the same way as anything else here: hidden immediately, erased from storage on the sweep described above.

For anything you cannot reach yourself, email privacy@weddify.com and say what you want removed. You do not need to close your account, and we will confirm by replying to the address on it before deleting anything.
